My name is Sarah Via, and I'm an animation generalist and educator. I got my BFA in Story and Concept Development for Animation at the Savannah College of Art and Design, and then followed it up with an MFA in Animation, and an MA in VFX!
Over the years I've been a peer tutor, created and hosted my own workshops on animation, taught the 2023 Summer Seminar for 2D animation, and was one of 14 students selected to go on the 2023 France Excursion hosted by SCAD.
Right now, I'm a substitute teacher for SCCPSS, and also developing a small company with some friends. Besides that, I'm working on learning more about video game programs like Unity to bring a pet project of mine to life.
Online, I usually have a couple tabs of Wikipedia open. I love learning new things, and so I often can burn a few hours tunneling a rabbit hole for myself. I love the old masters, and whenever I get art block I beat it by doing a master study (or five).
When I'm offline, I'm usually playing with my dog, Lily, or building out my permaculture garden. (I've started running out of space for trees!)
I'm a huge believer in education and community involvement. I love teaching, and I've been coaching others in some capacity since middle school. Whether it's through tutoring or helping an elderly neighbor clean a hoarding house, I'm always trying to make a positive impact on the people around me.
