As a peer tutor, I took initiative to seek out gaps in student knowledge by talking with peers and faculty. Skills which could be taught in an hour I made into workshops, which were then officially hosted at SCAD. All workshops are continually updated and repeated, meaning I host at least one every two weeks when new ones aren't being developed.
Below are descriptions and dates of those workshops.
May 10th, 2024 - Using 3D Technology for Concept Development: This workshop will cover various methods on how to use 3D pipelines to help with 2D concept artwork.
April 26th, 2024 - History and Forms of Animation: This lecture covers the development of new technologies and methods for animation from its earliest forms to the modern day.
March 8th, 2024- 2D Compositing for Animation - Students will learn how to set up Harmony files for export and compositing, and gain a basic understanding of After Effects techniques most commonly used to complete a finalized animation.
February 23rd, 2024 - Live Action Reference for the Animator - This workshop will explore the different ways video reference can be used in animation, from pixelation to action analysis to rotoscoping, and more!
February 9th, 2024 - Lighting and Rendering with Arnold - In this workshop, students will learn the basics of using the different kinds of lights to create polished and professional scenes in Maya and Arnold.
January 26th, 2024 - Building a Scene for Animation - This lecture focuses on the creation of an interesting scene from screenplay to screen with a focus on the animated story.
January 12th, 2024 - Character Design for Animation - In this lecture, students will learn the key concepts of character design for animation, video games, and comics.
November 10th, 2023 - Deliberate Practice and Self-Critique: Learn how to teach yourself! Students will discover how to use constructive critique, analysis, and goal setting to improve their work.

September 29th, 2023 - Intro to Clip Studio Paint for Illustration: This presentation will help students master the basics of the popular drawing software Clip Studio Paint, as well as some basic skills focusing on illustrative or painterly work.
September 15th, 2023 - Tracing, Basing, and Master Studies: How copying can help you level up your art and animation. This workshop will teach students the benefits of copying art they admire, how to analyze and reverse engineer good art, and methods to make illustrations faster and easier.
May 26th, 2023 - Careers in Animation: This lecture explores different career paths in the animation industry and other related fields, and teaches students how to tailor their work to specific jobs. Developed in partnership with SCAD Career and Alumni Services.
May 12th, 2023 - Job Applications for Animation: This lesson prepares students for job applications, with a focus on resume, cover letter, portfolio, and demo reel development, as well as interview and job search strategies. Developed in partnership with SCAD Career and Alumni Services.
April 28th, 2023 - Pitching for Animation: This lecture explains what makes a good pitch for animation, from making a pitch bible to the performance of the pitch itself, and more! Students learn to develop and market their ideas, and find the resources they need to bring them to life.
April 14th, 2023 - Walk Cycle Walkthrough: This workshop teaches students how to make their own looping walk cycle by animating pose-to-pose with a pre-made rig. Students learn how to use both IK and FK controls, the graph editor, and how to polish their work by themselves. Session taught in Maya with the Mecha Mechs proxy rig.
