"Next Five" Exercise
I loved this picture of a fox and badger standing together - they looked like war-hardened friends ready to face down an army together. So I boarded out a few panels to follow it. Here they face down the Pine Martin Queen, her Weasel Generals, and her army of Rats.
"Check Engine"
Given three random words - clown, book, and garage, I created a short story with an emphasis on comedic storytelling through pantomime.
Very loosely inspired by Edgar Allen Poe's "The Conqueror Worm."
When reading this poem, I loved the imagery for decomposition of the body, and came up with this story about a man who dies and is reunited with his deceased lover after his flesh is no longer binding him to the earth. This was one of the most uncomfortable boards I've ever made, because I wanted to contrast the revulsion of the body rotting with the happy ending, and it required a lot of research, but I'm very happy with how it turned out!
